Miami Proposal Photographer
As a Miami proposal photographer, I never know where my couple's love stories will take me. For Nico and Belkys, it was a surprise proposal aboard a yacht. The yacht belongs to my bride-to-be’s family and is affectionally named ‘Nena’. A well-known nickname for Belkys aunt.
On the day of the surprise proposal, we set sail from Aventura with our heading set for Key Biscayne. While Belkys was none the wiser that a proposal was imminent, the reason behind the trip was to celebrate her and Nico’s six-year anniversary. To celebrate their relationship, the couple planned a romantic sunset cruise with a private chef in attendance. Chef Abigail of Curated by Caddy whipped up an amazing plated dinner for Nico and Belkys complete with mouth-watering appetizers. But it was the dessert course that proved to be truly exceptional. Side by side with their final course, Chef Abigail carefully plated Belkys engagement ring in anticipation of the big moment.
In fact, when the final course was served, at first glance, Belkys didn’t take notice of the ring. It was so sweet to see the shock and joy on her face when she looked down and realized what was about to happen. Like a true gentleman, Nico lifted the antique-style ring from Belkys plate and walked with her to the stern of the yacht. He knelt down, and with the ring in his hand, asked for Belkys to be his wife. As their Miami proposal photographer, I was able to capture each splendid, heartfelt moment of their engagement in real-time. Furthermore, I knew that the best was yet to come.

Capturing the moment of the proposal is only the very first step in a well-orchestrated surprise proposal and engagement. Once the question has been asked and my couple becomes officially engaged, I like to take their photography experience a step further. Those first few moments of a proposal are filled with so much raw emotion. It’s the realization that they’ve found their person, the one they will experience all of the many aspects of life with.
During the moment, when emotions are high and the love is evident, I allow my couple to let the experience wash over them. For Belkys and Nico, it was a time to take in the views of the sprawling sea that surrounded them in every direction. But it was also a moment to relish in each other's company. I knew that when we docked in Key Biscayne at The Cleat Restaurant, their family and friends would be waiting to celebrate the joyous news. So as their Miami proposal photographer, I wanted to honor the privacy they shared over their engagement for the time being, while detailing it all through images they can look back on for a lifetime.
Of course, when we pulled to shore, the celebration was just getting started. Loving family members were waiting to embrace Belkys and Nico while congratulating them on their engagement. Knowing what this moment was for not only Belkys and Nico, but their family as well, I continued their photography experience, honoring those in attendance.
