Looking for an iconic, picturesque backdrop for your Miami engagement photos? Vizcaya Museum is the location that delivers unparalleled beauty with historic charm, and it’s located just outside the busy streets of Miami!

My beautiful couple, Morgan and AJ are both familiar with South Florida but currently reside in Pittsburgh. AJ is a former South Florida resident, so as you can imagine he and Morgan have traveled back and forth together on numerous occasions. Their love for South Florida is what led them back to the area during the pre-wedding planning process. There was no question in their mind that when it came to their engagement photos, they had to schedule their shoot at Vizcaya!

Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is a Miami staple, especially for couples shooting their engagement photos, and it’s not hard to see why! The historic villa and estate home turned museum and gardens was built in 1916 for James Deering. The original structure still stands today and you can see all of its original beauty and splendor with a tour of the estate. Vizcaya is perched over the waters of Biscayne Bay, where you’ll catch a glimpse of the sunken stone barge as you stroll by. The barge, made of concrete and locally sourced coral, was a commissioned piece of artwork in the 19th century that Deering used to entertain his guests.

On the grounds of Vizcaya, you’ll find over 10 acres of beautifully manicured gardens that feel as though you’ve left the streets of Miami and have suddenly stepped inside an English Garden. With stone stairways and hidden corners, it’s a romantic location to explore with your fiance! I had a wonderful afternoon visiting Vizcaya with Morgan & AJ to capture their love story.
