Vizcaya Museum and Gardens Engagement Photos
Engagement photos at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens beckon the romantic at heart.
Previously occupied as a villa and estate, Vizcaya is now a Museum. The grounds of Vizcaya are renowned for its gardens, stone statues, and busts. All of which are infused with a dash of modern art from the time the villa was inhabited by James Deering. Local Miami residents flock to Vizccaya to learn more about its history, whose construction dates back to 1912.
But what sets Vizcaya Museum and Gardens apart from all the other historical locations in Miami is its ability to become a transformative space for engagement photos. Vizcaya is a well-sought-after destination for couples who are celebrating the next step in their relationship. With its idyllic setting stretched across the bay and its secluded secret garden surroundings, it’s an exquisite location that calls out to the hearts of lovers.
In fact, we have a long history of working with our couples to capture their engagement photos at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. Each of their stories, from how they met, to how they became engaged is just as unique as the next. Dianna and Vincent, featured below, recently became engaged. Having known Dianna for what feels like a lifetime, we could not have been more excited to work with her and Vincent on their engagement photos at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. It’s always a unique joy to connect with our couples through their wedding photography experience. But when a dear friend becomes engaged, they quickly turn from friend to family.

Dianna and Vincent arrived at their session ready and with open hearts that were prepared to take creative direction. It should be noted that Dianna is a makeup artist who works within the wedding industry. She is all too familiar with what goes on behind the scenes. Of course, she was also dressed impeccably and in full hair and makeup, which she put on herself. Having a special connection with Dianna and Vincent, we wanted to embrace our time together to the fullest. We set out to explore every inch of the grounds at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. As a matter of fact, we quickly felt the day slip away as their engagement photos quickly went from sunny day to dusk. While you might think that the change overhead in the skies is a challenge during your engagement session, it was the exact opposite for Dianna and Vincent. As the dusk rolled in and with few clouds overhead, we were able to create a wide range of engagement photos for them at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. You can see a selection of our favorites when you scroll through the photos below.
Here are some common questions we receive when working with our couples on their Vizcaya Museum and Gardens Engagement Photos.
What is the best color to wear for engagement photos?
In a setting like Vizcaya, the possibilities are endless. We will say, that many of our couples like to select attire that is a bit more formal. While Vizcaya is an outdoor setting, it’s also impeccably well-kept and has an unequivocal air of luxury to it. Whatever colors you select for your attire should be complimentary to one another as opposed to matching. You’ll get to see how Dianna and Vincent achieved this below. If you’re wondering what to avoid, we’d say anything green, attire with a logo, or clothing with a distracting print.
Should you get professional hair & makeup for engagement photos?
Short answer, yes! Professionally done hair and makeup make all the difference for your engagement photos. It will allow the focus to lie squarely on you without the backdrop distracting from your beauty and your moment. Additionally, it will allow you to feel like the best version of yourself. Looking and feeling your best will allow you to show up to your session with total confidence. This helps take the nerves away and allows you to enjoy the time with your spouse as an intimate way to connect ahead of your wedding day.
